2. Purpose of the site

Interactive Bible Atlas is an interactive map with a timeline of biblical locations, for study and educational purposes. Accessing and using the site makes you a user and implies acceptance of the terms set out here.

3. Intellectual property

This site's own source code (HTML, CSS and JavaScript, excluding the third-party libraries listed in section 4) is distributed under the MIT License.

The dataset of biblical locations, territories and eras (js/data.js) is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license — see LICENSE-DATASET (in Spanish). You may copy, adapt and redistribute it citing the source, linking to the license, and under the same license.

4. Third-party credits and licenses

This site uses the following third-party components:

• Base cartography: map tiles from OpenStreetMap contributors, distributed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. The biblical borders, locations and certainty levels are original work and are not sourced from the OpenStreetMap database.

• Cinzel typeface — Natanael Gama / The Cinzel Project Authors, distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

5. About the Bible version cited (King James Version)

This site does not reproduce the text of the King James Version (KJV) or of any other Bible translation. Only references (book, chapter and verse — a standard, public-domain numbering system) are shown, along with links to BibleGateway for consultation. The KJV text itself is in the public domain in the United States; readers in the United Kingdom should note that the Crown holds a separate printing privilege over the Authorized Version there, which is not implicated by linking out to a third-party site as this page does.

6. Disclaimer regarding content

The territories, borders and locations shown on this site are illustrative approximations for biblical study purposes, not academically precise historical cartography nor a representation of current political borders. Ancient-world borders are rarely known with exactness. Where the extent or name of a territory is a matter of historiographical debate, this project deliberately represents the perspective of the biblical text, a criterion explained case by case (see About). No representation on this site should be interpreted as a position on contemporary borders, sovereignty, or territorial conflicts.

Content is provided "as is", without warranty of accuracy, and does not substitute for specialized academic sources.

This site contains outbound links to BibleGateway and Google Maps. The owner does not control and is not responsible for the content, availability, or privacy policies of the linked sites.
